That requires more than just fairly dividing up chores.
We have to examine why and how one of you became the default manager of your lives while the other is going with the flow. Then, you can work together as a team to create systems that create a balanced and supportive home life, so no one feels overwhelmed or resentful.
You can be loving, committed, and still stuck in a household where one person holds everything in their head. I help women and couples make that invisible labor visible, move past the same old arguments, and build a home that runs on shared ownership.
To have equity in society, we need equity at home.
Kelsey Baker is a mom, lawyer, writer, and former consultant in the corporate world, raising two little ones alongside her husband. She founded Mockingbird Learning to use her personal and professional experience to help women and couples achieve balance at home by addressing the systemic reasons why there was never balance in the first place.
Whether you're looking for individual help or strategies for couples, I have a plan for you.
We'll start with a household equity audit to reveal the current distribution of labor and identify areas of focus, including the division of physical labor, the mental load, emotional labor, default parenting, and differences in free time. Then, we'll examine how societal structures, gender roles, family modeling, money, identity, and cultural expectations shape your current arrangement.
Once we understand where the inequity originated, we'll define what fairness looks like for you, clarifying your values, needs, boundaries, and non-negotiables, and creating explicit agreements about time and full ownership, not just "helping." We'll create practical systems that actually work for your family. Ones that you can maintain over time and adjust as live evolves.
Finally, we'll create a plan for accountability, maintenance, and reassessment, so you don't end up right back where you started once our coaching sessions are over.
For Women
For women who feel overwhelmed, resentful, or exhausted from carrying more than your share at home. We clarify what you need, examine your own behaviors and inherited expectations as well as your partner's behaviors, prepare for hard conversations, set boundaries, and reclaim your time. Whether your partner is ready to engage or not, you have a plan.
For Couples
For partners who recognize the inequity in their home and relationship and want practical help changing it. As an expert in conflict resolution, I help you stop talking past each other, define what fairness means for your family, and build systems so you operate as a team. We work together to move past blame and shame into actionable steps you can build on together after our coaching sessions.
Sharing the domestic labor and the mental load fairly doesn't come naturally to most couples. That's because we're all shaped by our experiences and the society we live in, and this imbalance is a systemic issue. Even if we can't fix the system, we can make real changes in our own homes.
It's not that you need help. You deserve it. I'm here to guide you through the process of shifting the mental load and creating an equitable household.
Recognizing inequity is the first step. Lasting change requires honest conversations, explicit agreements, new behaviors, and accountability, particularly when a couple has lived within the same patterns for years. Coaching provides a structured, practical, and forward-looking process for doing that work.

While it's much easier to create an equitable household with your partner on the same team, you can absolutely make changes to reduce your mental load, set boundaries, and reclaim your time without them.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
People often think shifting the mental load and dividing the work fairly at home is a matter of showing our partner all the things they don't see, then figuring out better systems for managing them. Even when that works, it usually doesn't last. This coaching program is different because it starts by getting to the heart of why things were never balanced in the first place, which involves unpacking societal forces and expectations and how they shape our lives. Without fully diagnosing the problem, our solutions are more like a bandaid than a cure.
Coaching is an investment in yourself and/or your relationship. I do not offer refunds unless there are extreme circumstances and I can't guarantee any specific results. Here is what I can guarantee: I'm committed to helping you solve the issue of inequity at home and I'm committed to addressing this issue at a societal level.
